REPORTING & HELP

We're here to help

Whatnot is built on community trust. When something goes wrong—from an order issue, to a listing, profile, or DM that breaks our rules—you can report it from wherever it's happening, and we take it from there.

  • What happens when I report something on Whatnot?

When you report something on Whatnot, your report goes to our Trust & Safety team and the systems we use to enforce our Community Guidelines. Reports help us act on clear violations quickly, spot patterns across accounts, and sharpen our detection over time. Every report helps and is a part of how we keep Whatnot trustworthy for everyone.

  • How to report something

If you see a profile, listing, or DM that violates our Community Guidelines, you can report it from wherever it's happening. In most places, you'll find Report under the ‘More’ (…) menu or directly on the listing.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • No. These reports stay confidential.

  • When you file a claim on an order, sellers may see the order details so they have a chance to make it right.

  • It depends on the report. Clear violations of our policies can result in immediate action, including account removal. More complex cases take longer because they require a deeper investigation. Either way, our goal is to reach the right outcome.

  • We take the privacy of every account seriously. That's why we don't share what action we've taken on another user's account, just like we wouldn't share the outcome if someone reported yours.

We're also mindful that sharing too much about how we enforce our rules makes it easier for bad actors to work around them.

You can always check the status of any report you've filed under Account → User Reports.
